| JobDescription | Job Description: Immediate need for Substation Automation Executive Consultant. Our client seeks an executive consultant to serve as an advisor to customers regarding technical substation automation applications and efficiently communicate the benefits of the substation automation system and solutions, including IEC 61850 and Smart Grid. The ideal candidate would be someone with an engineering degree and technical experience that wants to make a career transition from Engineering/Technical into more of the Business side of a company. Typical duties/responsibilities: - Work directly with customers to develop a technical relationship and define protection-related concepts and solutions to secure the highest possible penetration in the Substation Automation segment and position our client as the preferred supplier and long-term partner. - Creation of design strategies, architecture, and design specifics for substation automation and protection and control (P&C) systems. Projects may focus on all types of conventional relaying design as well as current substation automation approaches based on IEC 61850 and Smart Grid applications. - Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art technology and market trends affecting our clients substation automation products and systems. - Understand and actively help to refine customer expectations, needs & specifications and communicate efficiently the benefits of our project-specific system or service offering related to specific project opportunities. - Support sales and marketing efforts in technical matters for the purpose of gaining industry knowledge and an understanding of the customer requirements. - Review and prepare proposals from customer specifications with a full understanding of technical abilities, competitor offerings and market conditions. Position Qualifications: - Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related area. - Eight years relevant engineering experience in electrical power systems. - Registered Professional Engineering preferred. - Requires an in-depth knowledge of electric power engineering discipline plus broad knowledge of multiple engineering fields to influence direction of engineering efforts, coordinate projects, adapt to changing technology, present proposals, and conceive and foster introduction of new concepts and approaches. - Previous experience with designing Substation Automation, SCADA and/or P&C (protection and controls) system architectures - Requires ability to negotiate and influence decisions of senior Company managers and major customers. Desired competencies: - Knowledgeable in power systems and protection-related matters and solid knowledge of IEC 61850 - Experience with LAN protocols, HMI systems, and software packages. - Needs to have knowledge of Substation Automation, Distribution Automation and Protection products, RTUs and systems and be able to assist the customers in the selection and implementation of the best solution for their applications. - Must be able to influence customers of the desirability of utilizing our clients substation automation systems. - Must be able to communicate complex technical subjects to groups - Excellent technical English writing and verbal skills. - Successfully worked in large matrix organizations and able to work across country boundaries. - Ability to prioritize work activities and self manage required. |
